SmartQ 5
There's been quite a bit of buzz surrounding the SmartQ 5. This device looks like any other portable media player (PMP), but under the hood it has a Linux operating system (OS) that works very much like the version you see on a desktop computer. One of its biggest draws is the recommended price of US$132, extremely cheap compared with other Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) which serve the same functions. One big difference is the fact that the SmartQ 5 uses an ARM processor more commonly found in smartphones, while other MIDs often come with x86 processors made by chipmakers like Intel.

Dear all buyers and potential buyers:
Today we just received one important notice from SmartDevices, Beijing.
Due to tight schedule of R&D, for the 1st batch of SmartQ 5 MID,it comes with Simplified Chinese User Interface ONLY.
English User Interface will be available sometime in April.
We understand most of our customers are from Singapore , Europe and America, So after consideration, we decide to stop pre-order temporarily.
For who has placed the deposit, you have two options: full deposit refund or wait for the next batch(with English UI).
As a distributor, I will get two sets to review it first and work out the English manual for all of you as well.(We won't make it FREE DOWNLOAD.Only Play Smart Customers/Members have previlidge to download the english manual, so be proud of your membership!lol)
So once the English UI is available, we can start to use it immediately.
Once again thanks for all your support and look forward to hearing good news from SmartDevices ASAP!

SmartQ recently sent out a press release in China announcing its upcoming Linux-based Mobile Internet Device (MID), the SmartQ 5. This MID will run on an ARM processor, usually found in mobile phones and handhelds. The Ubuntu operating system (OS) used on it, on the other hand, more commonly resides on computers using x86 processors made by companies like Intel and AMD. The combination of a power-saving mobile processor and a full desktop OS should be interesting.
